If Apple added some USB3.1-A (at least 4), video out, Ethernet, etc. I know the XPS 13 has USB ports on the power brick, but only for charging. Yes, this is a pretty OK solution for the problem.

I do agree 1 port is rough though, they could have stuff in the power brick and push data through, that'd be the ideal solution imo in the name of preserving a lack of thickness. It's listed on the USBC article here on Ars from CES. To be fair, if memory serves USB-C actually can handle quite a bit of power, >100W if I'm not mistaken.

In fact I'd say the sets of professionals and power users have only a partial overlap- there are hobbyists who are power users. There are plenty of professionals who need a computer who aren't power users. It ought to go without saying that 3D artists, video editors, scientific number crunchers and the like are not the target audience for such a computer. What 'power user'? Journalists, authors, screenwriters, (traveling) office workers in general, hell, even for developers on the go, all these people use their computers professionally, and it generally is their primary work tool - how are they not 'power users'? It's an ipad with a keyboard, a macnetbook.

If you're looking for a 12 inch laptop, it can be safely assumed you're not going to do much with it. This is simply not a power user's machine.
